#1 2009 NBA Draft Top Shooting Guard – James HardenArizona State

James Harden came into his freshman season at Arizona State with big-time expectations. He didn’t let anyone down with averaging 17.8 points per game, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists earning All-PAC-10 first team accolades. In his sophomore year, he upped his numbers to 21 points per game, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game earning the Pac-10 Player of the Year award. Harden brings an ability to score and NBA size to the draft. On the downside, his athleticism is considered average and he was turnover prone in his two season of college ball.

#2 2009 NBA Draft Top Shooting Guard – Demar DeRozanUSC

Demar DeRozan is entering the draft with probably the best NBA body of the shooting guard propsects. He’s considered a bit green still, so it will likely be a few seasons before we start to see big time numbers of out him.

Gerald Henderson doesn’t enter the 2009 NBA draft with the numbers that you expect out of a guard in a Top 5 list, however, that is considered more of a function of the system he played in at Duke vice an indication of his ability. He is one shooting guard that can significantly up or lower his draft position from the upcoming team workouts.

Terrence Williams was one of the key reasons the Cardinals won their first Big East regular season and tournament championships. His numbers were ok at 12.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game under Coach Rick Pitino, but he is a guard that will likely continue to blossom in the NBA.

#5 2009 NBA Draft Top Shooting Guard – Stephen Curry – Davidson

Stephen Curry is best known for leading the NCAA major programs in scoring the last two seasons. Although he is more likely to be drafted to be a point guard, you can’t ignore the fact that Curry average 26 and 29 points his last two seasons of college basketball!
