College Hoops Video

With the departure of Elliot Williams to Memphis to be with his mother, the Duke Blue Devils and Coach K suddenly found themselves very short in the backcourt for the 2009-10 NCAA basketball season. Well, they may be closer to a solution than previously thought with the potential early graduation of 2010 commitment, Andre Dawkins. Dawkins who is a shooting guard prospect is the 10th ranked overall player in the 2010 class. Dawkins already possesses all of the minimum requirements to enter college with the exception of having his high schoold diploma which he is working on this summer. He has previously repeated the ninth grade when he was at Deep Creek High School in Virginia. If he is able to graduate early and gain admittance to Duke, he could sign with the team as early as this November. Dawkins is currently the number 2 overall ranked shooting guard in the 2010 NCAA recruiting class.

Daniel Hackett and USC

Andre Dawkins is not by himself in the potential decision to leave for college a year elar. Daniel Hackett graduated from high school in the summer of 2006 after USC point guard Ryan Francis was killed in May 2006. Hackett was able to successfully graduate early and enrolled in the the fall of 2006. He departed USC after three years for the NBA. Similar to USC, the Blue Devils are in need for a small forward or shooting guard who can take over for the departure of Gerald Henderson to the NBA. IfDawkins is able to graduate early, Coach K will have a lot more options available to tweak the Duke starting lineup for the 2009-10 season before entering ACC basketball play in the New Year.
