Just in case you’re like me and ready for Midnight Madness and the college basketball season to already be here, now’s a great time to start looking for MySpace layouts of your favorite college basketball team. You can browse the available layouts now and upload them when you’re ready to start thinking about college hoops. Just in case your favorite team does not have a layout created yet, you also have time to request one from one of the content providers listed in this article. Many of the sites will create new layouts for free if it has the potential to be a popular one for their site.
MyBasketball-Layouts.com

MyBasketball-Layouts has several of better known college basketball teams featured in their free MySpace layouts to include the North Carolina Tar Heels, Louisville Cardinals, Duke Blue Devils, Texas Longhorns, Kansas Jayhawks, and the UCLA Bruins. They also have a number of NBA-styled layouts available for you to preview and copy the code to use on your MySpace site. The Tar Heels and Chris Paul layouts are two of the most popular downloads available through MyBasketball-Layouts.com.
MySpaceLayouts.com
MySpaceLayouts.com has some great March Madness styled college basketball MySpace layouts. Although they do not have the depth in team offerings, their site is a great one to check out for Final Four themed layouts for later in the year. Their templates are easy to copy the code to re-use or to make one of the templates a favorite of yours if you register with the site.
FreeMySpaceLayouts.org

FreeMySpaceLayouts partners with WebFetti.org to allow you to make your own layouts if you don’t see a basketball layout that suits you. They only offer a few college basketball related MySpace layouts, so you may want to consider making your own if you can find your favorite team on one of the other sites in this article. The college basketball sites that FreeMyspaceLayouts does have are listed with the NBA layouts on the site.

Chromaluna.com

The Chromaluna site has some basic college team sites as well as March Madness themed layouts. Some of the available team layouts include ones for the UCLA Bruins, G-Town Hoyas, Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Florida Gators. I prefer the number of choices available at MyBasketball-Layouts, but if you are also interested in checking out other non-basketball related MySpace graphics, Chromaluna might be the best site for you to check-out.

The 2009 school year is starting and its time to start looking at the 2010 NCAA basketball recruiting classes. There is still a fair bit of variation between several of the ranking websites that you’ll read on-line in the top 10. I currently hold the top 10 NCAA basketball class recruits as: Brandon Knight, Harrison Barnes, Jared Sullinger, Jelan Kendrick, Fabricio de Melo, Josh Smith, Josh Selby, Reggie Bullock, Perry Jones, and Will Barton. Only 5 of the top 10 recruits have signed with programs so far, so it’ll be interesting to see how the team rankings being to shape up over the course of the year.

Top 10 2010 NCAA Basketball Recruits

#1 2010 NCAA Recruit – PG – Brandon Knight – Unsigned – Ft. Lauderdale – Pine Crest HS

Brandon Knight comes in at 6-6/206 lbs and has not chosen a college. He’s considered a well rounded player who could play either guard position or the wing. He’s got NBA size at 6-6 and is considered an excellent shooter and ball handler.

#2 2010 NCAA Recruit – SG – Harrison Barnes – Unsigned – Ames Senior

Harrison Barnes (6-7, 208 lbs) is a well rounded SG or SF prospect. He was very impressive at the Lebron Skills Academy this past summer on both sides of the court. He’s currently unsigned and has good NBA size for the guard position.

#3 2010 NCAA Recruit – PF – Jared Sullinger – Ohio State – Columbus – Northland

Jared Sullinger (6-8, 260lbs) is a big post player who is able to move like a wing. He takes knocks for not being as athletic as other players in the 2010 NCAA recruiting class, but he is already considered to have a high basketball IQ. Sometimes called the “Next Tyler Hansbrough”, he has signed with the Ohio State Buckeyes.

#4 2010 NCAA Recruit – SF – Jelan Kendrick – Unsigned – Atlanta – Westlake

Jelan Kendrick comes in at 6-6/180 lbs and can play the wing or two guard position. He still has a long list of major college programs that are under consideration to include: Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgetown, and Texas.

#5 2010 NCAA Recruit – C – Fabricio de Melo – Syracuse – Weston – Sagemont

Fabricio de Melo is huge! 7 feet tall, 270 lbs, and moves like he’s 6-9″. He’s committed to Syracuse and will be a great inside presence to the Orangemen for competing in Big East play!

#6-10 2010 NCAA Recruits

#6 2010 NCAA Recruit – C – Josh Smith – Unsigned – Covington – Kentwood

6-10/270lbs

#7 2010 NCAA Recruit – PG – Josh Selby – Unsigned – Baltimore – Lake Clifton

6-1/180lbs

 #8 2010 NCAA Recruit – SG – Reggie Bullock – North Carolina – Kinston

6-5/190lbs

#9 2010 NCAA Recruit – PF – Perry Jones – Baylor – Dallas – Duncanville

#10 2010 NCAA Recruit – SG – Will Barton – Memphis – Brewster Academy

6-6/170lbs

Of the top 5 teams in the pre-season college basketball Top-25, Kansas is the only team who is returning the majority of their starters from last season. The Big East has been the dominant conference over the past several seasons with the ACC a close second, however the other major conferences have made some major in-roads in that time. The SEC has made a huge jump this season with Coach Calipari’s re-birth of the Kentucky program and the signing of the one best recruiting classes in NCAA history. The ACC comes in at a respectable leve, just with a lot of questions to answer with the number of graduations and players who have left for the NBA draft. The following are how I hold the top 10 conferences headin into the start of the college year.

2009-10 Pre-Season Top 10 College Basketball Conferences

#1 Pre-Season Top 5 College Basketball Conference – Big Ten

The Big Ten had a break-through year last year with seven of its members making the 2009 NCAA Tournament. The conference is considered by many to be even stronger this year with a potential to send eight teams to the 2010 NCAA tournament. Heading into the start of the college season, the Big Ten is led by Michigan State, Purdue, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio State and Michigan. Penn State and Wisconsin also look like they could end up with at-large bids to the 2010 Tourney. The incoming recruiting classes for the Big 10 are not as strong as some of the other conferences, but that should not be an impact for the 2009-10 season. Some of the returning players that will lead their teams in the 2009-10 NCAA basketball season are: Evan Turner (Ohio State), Kalin Lucas (Michigan State), Robbie Hummel (Purdue) and Manny Harris (Michigan).

#2 Pre-Season Top 5 College Basketball Conference -ACC

Many folks are putting the ACC below the Big 10 and Big 12 this coming season, but I don’t think the conference will be down that far this season. North Carolina will miss Tyler Hansbrough, Wayne Ellington and Ty Lawson, but they have a crop of McDonald’s All-American’s who have been waiting their turn to show what they can do. Wake returns Al-Farouq Aminu who skipped his chance at the 2009 NBA draft and Maryland looks like they will break into the upper-portion of the ACC this season with Greivis Vasquez returning this season. Duke may also quietly creep up in the national rankings and ACC standings as Coack K’s squad becomes more seasoned during the season.

#3 Pre-Season Top 5 College Basketball Conference -SEC

The SEC has had two down years after the Florida Gators won back-back NCAA titles. Even if John Calipari had not migrated to Lexington to re-birth the Kentucky, the SEC would have been assessed higher this season, however, with Coach Cal bringing the number 1 NCAA recruiting class to Kentucky along with keeping star post-player Patrick Patterson for one more season, there are a lot of expectations for this season’s Kentucky team. Some mock drafts have Kentucky with as many as three lottery picks on the squad and four first round overall picks. Tennesssee and Mississippi State return Tyler Smith and Jarvis Varnado back this coming season, and the SEC is finally back to having a number of teams in the Top 25. Vanderbilt, LSU, Florida, and Ole Miss could all see the Top 25 once the season gets going depending on how other conference teams play. A big test to see where the SEC stands will be after Kentucky has played North Carolina, Indianna, Louisville, and UCONN in their pre-conference games.

#4 Pre-Season Top 5 College Basketball Conference - Big 12

The Big 12 is strong at the top with Kansas as the pre-season number 1 and Texas. Two of the NCAA’s top post players are playing in the Big 12 this season with Kansas’ COle Aldrich and Iowa State’s Craig Brackins. Other notable players returning this season are James Anderson of Oklahoma State, Willie Warren of Oklahoma, Damion James of Texas, K-State’s Jacob Pullen, and A+M’s Donald Sloan. Some of the top Big 12 recruits are Avery Bradley (Texas), Keith Gallon (Oklahoma), and Xavier Henry (Kansas). The Big 12 has the potential to put a number of teams in the NCAA tournament for 2010 and could make a case to supplant the SEC or ACC in the top 10 conferences in the country.

#5 Pre-Season Top 5 College Basketball Conference -Big East

The Big East is down a bit from last season with a number of stars departing for the 2009 NBA draft. Villanova brings in the number 2 overall NCAA recruiting class, and West Virginia comes into conference play with a strong returning class this season. UCONN will have point guard Kemba Walker and Jerome Dyson as well as Stanley Robinson and Gavin Edowards inside. Ater Majok will see more playing time as the season progresses for the Huskies and they may just walk away with the Big East title. There will be a lot of fans watching well-known recruit Lance Stephenson of Cincinnati and Louisville will also be in the mix as Coach Pitino’s players proceed through the season.
