The 2010 Mountain West Basketball tournament is being held 10-13 March 2010 this year in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Thomas Mack Center and is sponsored by Conoco. The conference tourney is held at the end of the MWC regular season and pits the 9 conference members against each other in single elimination play. The #8 and #9 seeds play in the opening round to determine the team to play the top-ranked seed. The winner of the 2010 Mountain West Basketball tournament is awarded the automatic bid for the conference to the 2010 NCAA tournament.
Entering the final weeks of the 2009-10 regular season play sees new Mexico and BYU atop the MWC standings. San Diego State and UNLV have also had decent years and all four teams have eclipsed the 20 win mark for the season.
