The Mountain Hawks had big wins this season at Quinnipiac, Deleware State, and Lafayette. Lehigh last appeared in the 2004 NCAA Tournament where they lost to Florida A&M. This will be Coach Brett Reed’s first NCAA Tournament appearance.
Lehigh is led by freshman guard C.J. McCollum who scores 18.9 ppg, 2.4 apg, senior Marquis Hall, 11.0 ppg, and senior forward, Zahir Carrington, 10.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg. As a team, Lehigh does not take a lo of three pointers and play a deliberate offensive style.
The Lehigh front court is considered solity with Zahir Carrington and Gabe Knutson (9.6 ppg), but Carrington’s lack of experience has shown at times this season. They are also not very deep in the front court which can prove problematic when facing the higher seed in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Lehigh scores 75.2 ppg and gives up 70.4 points on defense. They have shot 45.5 % from the field and their opponents have shot 42.4 %. Lehigh averages six and a half threes a game and shoots 40% from beyond the arc. They also shoot almost 72% from the free throw line and have a 1.1+ assist-to-turnover ration for the season.
