March Madness Bracket Predictions
March Madness Bracket Predictions – Tip #1 – Pick a Champion Who Won Their Conference Tourney
6 of the last 10 NCAA Tournament champions won their postseason tournament. It was 7 of 10 heading into last year’s finals. How should you interpret this? I would put at least one conference tourney winner in the final game if I was otherwise stuck on my bracket picks.
March Madness Bracket Predictions – Tip #2 - Don’t Pick a Champion that Lost Their First Game in Their Conference Tourney
There has yet to be a NCAA Tournament champion who lost their first conference tourney game.
March Madness Bracket Predictions – Tip #3 – Don’t Pick All #1 Seeds for the Final Four
Since 1985, it has only happened one time, in 2008. Why go against the odds?
March Madness Bracket Predictions – Tip #3 – Don’t Pick a 16 Seed to Beat a #1 Seed
The only time a 16 seed wins is in the “Play In” game. Anything is possible, and some #1 seeds have gotten scares, but the numbers say it won’t happen.
March Madness Bracket Predictions – Tip #4 – Pick 2 Teams from a Big 6 Conference
Big East, ACC, Big 12, Big Ten, SEC, PAC 10 (well maybe not this year). For the past 7 NCAA tournaments (since 2003), two teams from a Big 6 conference have made the Final Four. The PAC 10 may not be in the running for two teams this year, but the other 5 conferences all have strong teams to consider for your Final Four picks.
March Madness Bracket Predictions – Tip #5 – Devote the Majority of Your Time to Final Four Picks
The way most NCAA Tourney brackets award points is to increase the reward for successful picks as you move deeper into the tournament. One correct Final Four pick will be worth more than a complete first round picked correctly. If you are time constrained, spend it on the Final Four and Championship game picks.
March Madness Bracket Predictions – Tip #6 – Pick Duke to Make it To the Sweet 16 or Further
Over the past 12 NCAA Tournaments, Duke has made it to the Sweet 16 or further in 10 of them. Even if you hate the Blue Devils, the odds are with you to go with Coach K to the Sweet 16 or Elite 8 at least.
