So, earlier today I updated my final 2009 NBA Mock Draft. Then, I realized that a number of the readers of the site rely on the RSS feed that is limited to the last 10 articles on CHV. As a result, this is a short synopsis of the CHV 2009 NBA Mock Draft with a link to the full two round 2009 NBA Mock Draft!

We’ve seen who’s going and staying in the draft now. The biggest surprise is the lack of “awe” for Ricky Rubio’s only workout conducted before the draft with the Sacramento Kings.  I dropped him all the way down to nr 5 since the Kings don’t seem to thrilled with him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see him go even lower! Jodie Meeks chose to remain in the draft along with Memphis’s Shawn Taggart and we have seen a fair bit of movement of players based onhow their pre-draft workouts have gone. Tyler Hansbrough and B.J. Mullens have helped their cases since the 2008-09 NCAA regular season wrapped up and Terrence Williams may have worked his way into a 2009 NBA lottery pick! Particularly interesting is that Minnesota has traded to get the nr 5 and 6 picks with many thinking they’ll take the best Point Guard on the board with the pick and a good shooting or slashing guard with the second. Don’t be surprised to see them take DeRozan and Evans here vice mucking with Rubio if he’s still around.

Nr1 Center Prospect Hasheem Thabeet

Nr1 Center Prospect Hasheem Thabeet

The 2009 NBA draft is probably thinnest at the center position this year. The headline center prospect is UCONN center, Hasheem Thabeet who will likely get picked in the 2009 NBA Draft lottery. B.J. Mullens is the next closest prospect to Thabeet (who is not considered a sure thing), with Augusta State’s, Garret Siler being the third ranked center for this year’s draft. Although Thabeet is far from being a complete player, team’s just aren’t going to be able to pass up his skills at blocking shots and being a game-changer. Mullens has a bit of a more of a complete game skill-set than Thabeet, but also not seen as an immediate impact player in the NBA.

Top 3 2009 NBA Mock Draft Center Prospects

#1 2009 NBA Mock Draft Center – Hasheem Thabeet – Connecticut

Hasheem Thabeet was one of the most dominant college defensive players in the Big East and all of Men’s college basketball the past three season. He’s going pro with one season of eligibility left and just 118 blocked shots short of the all-time NCAA record. As a junior, he averaged 4.5 blocks a game and demonstrated a great feel for timing his attempts. He’s considered very athletic for being over 7 feet tall and did show incredible improvement in his offensive skils the past two years. He is a bit weaker in the post than most teams would desire, but isn’t anything that he can’t work on his first year or two in the pros and is the best all-around center propsect in the 2009 NBA draft. Blake Griffin, Likely Nr 1 Pick in the 2009 NBA Draft

Blake Griffin, Likely Nr 1 Pick in the 2009 NBA Draft

With the 2009 NBA Draft Lottery order set, its time to project the first round of the NBA Mock Draft. The selections are based on projected team need and will likely change a bit between now and draft day on 25 June 2009 depending on trades and player performances at team work-outs.
