2009 Second Team All-America and National Defensive Player of the Year.

Summary:

Hasheem Thabeet is one of the best prospects in this year’s draft physically. At 7-2, 260 lbs, he has good size for a 7 footer and is very athletic. His overall game is assessed as still being a bit raw, but he will go high in the draft for teams that need a defensive presence inside quick. Offensively he will need a few years to start really contributing.

Strengths:

– Size and Defensive Presence
- Shotblocking

- Freethrow Ability

Weaknesses:

- Rebounding

- Offensive Footwork and Skillset

- “Project Player”

2009 NCAA Final Four.

Down to the NCAA Final Four. Pitt and Louisville didn’t make past the Elite 8 with Michigan State and Nova being too much for them. Villanova will be trying to topple North Carolina while State will slug it out with UCON to make the 2009 NCAA Championship game!

2009 NCAA Final Four Game Predictions

2009 NCAA Final Four Game Prediction s – Michigan State vs Connecticut

2 Michigan State (26-6)

1 Connecticut (27-4)

Prediction: UConn – 62-54

UCONN has shaken out the rust and their defense has been in control during the 2009 NCAA tournament! The Huskies lead the nation with 7.8 blocks a game and are significantly outrebounding their opponents! Hasheem Thabeet leads the Huskies with 11 rebounds a game and was the Big East defensive player of the year for 2008-09 as well as 2007-08. State comes in with an equally tenacious defense with only giving up 60 points a game in the last 15 games.

2009 NCAA Final Four Game Prediction s – Villanova vs North Carolina

3 Villanova (26-7)

1 North Carolina (28-4)

Prediction: North Carolina 92-84

North Carolina and Villanova are going to have an up-tempo game. The Tar Heels are led by star guard, Ty Lawson who is pulling down over 20 points a game in the 2009 NCAA tournament after sitting out the first game to let his toe heel. The Tar Heels just have too many weapons for the Wildcats in this game with Tyler Hansbrough, Wayne Ellington, and Danny Green all capable of having big games! North Carolina will look to make up for their embarrassing game against Kansas from last season’s Final Four game when they got down 40-12 in the first half. Villanova is led by Scottie Reynolds who hit the game winner against Pitt last week and is scoring at 15.2 points per game.
